Tips To Prevent Carpet Stains

Tips To Prevent Carpet Stains

Eventually your carpet is going to have stains on it, whether you like it or not, you can’t avoid it.   There are things you can do to stop stains happening if you are willing to follow a few simple steps that will educate you towards some possibilities.

Try these tips to prevent carpet stains and keep your carpet clean:

No Shoes In The House

Shoes track mud, dirt and many other things inside your home.  By stopping anyone coming inside bringing their shoes in, you can stop the mud before it gets here.

Common sense? Maybe, but it works, sensible is Japanese culture.

No Drinks Near The Carpet

Red and orange stains are very hard to get out,  I can tell you that they are even harder to remove when they are larger and frequent.

Kleen Dry Gold Coast Carpet Cleaner are quite effective at removing stains

Have a rule in your home that states no drinks in carpeted areas and you’ll save a lot of heartache.

Either that or only drink clear soft drinks and water.

No Pets Indoors

Pet equal a lot of stains and some of them are nasty indeed.  Banning pets from inside your home will stop many stains occuring.

Carpet Protection

I think carpet protection is a pretty useful application and given that it actually prevent carpet wear as well, it’s quite the prudent investment.

Think About A Plan

A plan to keep your carpet safe and clean is a useful tool in keeping your carpet at a constant, clean state.

Eat At the Table

Food is not your enemy - No, I’m not talking about anti dieting sentiments, I mean food vs carpet.  Food doesn’t ever have to get walked into and squished into your carpet, just keep food away for good from the carpet and it’s a non issue.

Your carpet prefers family dinners at the table.

Dish washing Liquid Stains Carpet

Sometimes that orange dish cleaner will actually dye your carpet orange.  Who’d have known.

Use a proper stain remover like a spotter bottle and you wont have this problem.

Choose A Higher Quality Carpet

Did you know that more expensive carpets usually have a strong layer of carpet protection on them and last longer than cheap carpets do?

Well, now you do.

Drink Clear Drinks.

Water doesn’t stain as fast as orange soda or red wine doesn’t stain like lemonade.  You can reduce stains by choosing clear drinks that

Don’t Lay on the carpet after being at the Gym.

So you think this never happens?

Wrong.

When it does, the carpet actually absorbs sweat - Eek!

Not only is that kinda gross, but sweat can stain carpet and make it look rather dirty indeed.  Not good people, not good at all.

So put down a towel, have a shower but just don’t sweat all over the floor, it’s really gross.

Pet Odours Can Be Neutralized.

Kleen Dry Carpet Cleaning offer a product that takes away odour pets may leave, but it also can be used to eliminate most smells too.

You never know when a stink is going to pop up, but you know it will happen.

Hopefully for you, not soon.

Bleaching Carpet

You may have a carpet that has stains all over it and they have dyed right into the fabric.  If you have a very white, light carpet, then it may be okay, because you may be able to bleach out the stains and bring the carpet back to white again

Careful goes it though, bleach on the wrong thing and ouch!

Getting The Edges Clean

Carpet gets dusty and dirty around the edge, but most carpet vacuum cleaners can’t get all the way to the edge, so what to do?

A Handy little tip is to use your comb to brush the edges back and forth and loosen up the dust for the vacuum cleaner to be effective.

Using vinegar on carpets

Now this old wive’s tale is so dated, I can not track it back and as I’m no historian, I have not the wherewithal to do so.

Just a warning on using vinegar to clean carpet stains:

Vinegar could likely do as much damage as good, so I would recommend it.  If in doubt do LESS

Water and a towel are your best friends, so use them first and if it doesn’t work then use a CLEANING product that is ph neutral.

Not vinegar which can strip protective coatings off the fabric.

Not to mention your carpets will taste sour *trollface*

Shivers!

Vinegar is great for a lot of things, for a sore throat, for its antibacterial properties and for its lovely flavor on salads, but cleaning carpet is not one of them

You just would not believe the wide array and variety of things people try to get stains out of their carpet with.

The list is endless - Peanut butter is not a gum remover and yes, it will stain your carpet.

Obtaining The Ideal Carpeting Cleaner

If you are much like me (poor you) then you won’t be bothered with the hassle os  wanting to sweat and injure yourself trying to use those large and cumbersome home carpet cleaning machines when you can just hire some one for a few additional bucks

Obtaining a halfway decent carpet cleaner to do the job for you and save the hassle and time is what most people I know do, why, with the call of a telephone anyone worth their salt  could be at your residence like lightning if they really want the job, alleviating you from the most severe form of cleaning work there is available.  (IMHO)

A brief play on your home computer (or whatever computer hint: work) will help you find someone to clean your carpet that will accomplish your individual cleaning preferences and expectations.

It will not take many min’s to find a good one. One thing the very best carpet cleaners recognize is how individuals sometimes  get disappointed when the estimate for the phone doesn’t match the quote on the job, but many instances this is not the operator’s fault. They usually inform you it is an estimation, but possibly you should have advised them the lounge you need cleaned is not really actually an average size, but nearer to that of a ball court.

Be honest with the operator and tell them how big your rooms are.

Steam cleaning is really a carpet cleaning process utilized by most professional carpet cleaners. It incorporates a high pressure hot water extractor to rinse any preconditioning solution that is applied to the carpet. This type of technique is believed to deliver one of the most desirable results in all cleaning techniques for carpets. Infections, dustmites, fungi, molds, mildews may also be taken out via steam cleaning apart from cleaning of the carpeting for dust, bothersome stains, filth, grit, fine sand, and contaminants in the air. Steam cleaning is highly advised for households when a member of family undergoes asthma or allergies. (It also removes more mass dirt than any other carpet cleaning form.)

Or anyone really. (unless dust is your thing)

You may need the very best (and hardest) task carried out for you and since you work hard for the money you want a decent job done. Getting a great carpet cleaner with a great deal of understanding will help you have the cleanest carpet achievable as opposed to the do-it-yourself machines that only clear away a small fraction of the mud, dust and stains, bu I’m pretty sure you know that a half assed machine is only ever going to do half assed job right?

It’s up to you, they’re your carpets - Make the right choice.

Using Lemon Oil On Tiles

Cleaning your carpet and your tiles are very different prospects, one is furry and fluffy and the other is solid and shiny.

A good carpet clean involves deep cleaning and powerful extraction.  A good tile clean uses tough astringents that break down grime but do not affect the surface of the tiles.

Cleaning you tiles with chemical agents is stinky and exposes you to many unseemly ingredients, but using lemon oil is an all natural product that is chemical free and the smell is…beautiful.

The smell of lemon oil on your freshly cleaned tiles is just a really lovely fragrance and did I mention it’s all natural?

I recommend you try it to get clean tiles and a fresh smelling home.

Actually, lemon oil does eliminate almost all smells and odours so you may not smell much else, but at least it will be a nice refreshing fragrance.

I like my home to smell of desserts, it actually stops me craving lemon meringue pie…sometimes

Cleaning The Edge Of Your Carpets

You know what it’s like when the vacuum wont get the dirt between the dust and the wall.

The dirt slips down and the vacuum wont reach and the attachments for your vacuum cleaner wont do the trick either.

I’ve got a little tip for you which works for me.

If you have a pet, preferably a furry one (I know, where am I going with this right?), what you may own is a fur removing sticky brush, which is little more than a wide double sided sticky tape roll on a handle, used for removing dog fur from beds and furniture.

Well, for occasions when I need a super carpet clean, I use one of these along the wall framing the carpet and it works a treat to remove the grit that somehow the vacuum cleaner does not.

A comb is a nifty thing to have handy, because you can use it to agitate the edges of the carpet and get the dirt to pop up.

Remember that the more dirt you pluck up, the less residual dirt staining you’ll have around the edges of your carpet.

Why not do a thorough job and preserve your carpet life too?

Does bleach remove carpet stains

Wow, you think no one would ever ask this question?

You’d be wrong and I actually hear it often enough to worry, not only about the world, but that the voting age is too young.

Back to the subject at hand.   Does bleach remove carpet stains?

In short - Yes, yep, it sure does, much like how hydrofluouric acid removes makeup, it’ll get rid of the make up, but you can kiss your skin goodbye too.

Bleach will bring white carpets back to white, so if you have a red stain on a white carpet, bleach is your man, so to speak, but any other carpet and instead of a red stain you’ll be left with a nice white mark.

It’s completely fine if you want to whiten your carpet or you might actually have a white carpet (good luck with that), so it has it’s benefits.

Does Baking Soda Work On Carpet Stains?

Home remedies are divisive and eclectic.

Some work and work well, whilst others should have you embarrassed for even contemplating their value let alone trying them out.

Baking soda is an interesting chemical property.  Sodium bicarbonate reacts so veraciously to vinegar that it enlivens the senses and lends visual credence to the idea the baking soda is a stain remover, but does it work?

For some things it does.  A bit of baking soda then water can help remove high viscosity liquids that are thick and harder to get out, without having to saturate the carpet to dilute the thickness of the staining liquid.

Generally outside of it’s abrasive quality it is not a chemical that acts well as a reactive agent to stains.

So it is little more than a gritty powder but not so much a carpet cleaning wunderkind.

Hope that clears it up - Abrasive on hard surfaces are good - on Carpet they are bad

Tips To Look After Your Upholstery

Okay, okay, so you have a mother or a grandmother who covers her sofas in,  that’s probably not the most practical way to look after your upholstery and still actually be able to “live”.

Plastic covers are not what I would call a permanent solution.

I like ideas that are workable and help to keep your upholstery clean, without restricting you too much.

Pillows

Cushions help take up a lot of the wear that an happen to your favorite seats.

A few throw pillows help do wonders for look and comfortability

Blankets

Adornments such as blankets can add looks and comfort as well as protection for wear on your sofa.

Upholstery Protection

Commercial quality upholstery protection can help stop extra soil wear and stains from ruining your precious seats and furniture.

Foot Stools

Put your feet on the foot stool and relax, it’s better than doing damage to the lounge suite and putting your footwear all over it.

These are just a few tips to look after your upholstery

Are Red Wine Stain That Bad?

It’s supposedly the bane of all carpets and the worst thing you can spill, but is red wine the worst thing you can spill on your carpet?

From a carpet cleaners perspective, there are a couple of factors.

1. How old is the stain

If it’s been in the carpet for 3 weeks then chances are that it is now a permanent member of your family.

2. What type of wine

If the wine has darker pigments or higher alcohol it will be harder to remove, but if the stain is yet to dry, then it will be easier to remove.

All in all red wine is bad for your carpet, but it could be worse, orange cordial is one of the worst things you can spill.

Stop Pets Urinating On The Carpet

So you want to stop your pets peeing on the carpet and you don’t know where to begin.

Let me just say that cats are tougher to train than dogs.  A rolled up newspaper deters a dog, but makes a cat dislike you, so rather than focusing on disciplinarian activities, I will focus on carpet protecting measures.

Shut the doors.

Okay so this is basic and impractical in many cases, but I always shut my doors to as many rooms as I can to keep my animal’s options down.

Child fences

Drastic?  Yep!

Does it work?  Dang right it does.

Your cat can not pee on what it can’t get past.

Anti Pet Sprays

Now I’ve heard thee talked about, but I don’t know how they work, but the idea is you spray a border around where the animals are not allowed to go and they detest the smell, so they avoid it.

Stop Pets Urinating On The Carpet and you’ll save on carpet cleaning and carpet care

You don’t have to choose between your pets and your carpet.
